Weekly Classical Studio — Studio Live
Complete Classical Training - Documented Live Over 3-4 Years
A Multi-Year Classical Training Journey
I'm embarking on a complete classical training curriculum, from drawing foundations through to painting demonstrated live over the next 3-4 years.
Join me as I work through each step methodically, term by term. Watch live, draw alongside or use the recordings to work at your own pace. Together we'll build a comprehensive library of classical training that grows more valuable with each session.
This is not a pre-packaged course. It is a living studio practice. Each term forms part of a sustained journey through classical training.
What This Is
Studio Live is a quiet, observational space. Each week, I demonstrate classical techniques in real-time - no teaching, no chat, no performance. Just sustained methodical work.
Think of it as having a studio practice alongside a professional artist. You see every step, every decision, every measurement. The camera stays close. The work unfolds slowly.
Some students draw along during the live sessions. Others watch and absorb. Many use the recordings to work at their own rhythm. All approaches are equally valid.

Spring Term: Bargue Drawing Foundations
We begin where classical training has always begun - with the Bargue plates.
Over seven weeks, I'll work through a single plate, demonstrating:
• Comparative measuring and proportion
• Clarity and precision of line
• Modelling form through light and shade
• The patience required for classical methods
Each session is one hour. Every Monday, 2-3pm GMT. All sessions recorded and available to enrolled students.
The Journey Ahead
This is just the beginning. The curriculum will progress systematically over the coming years:
Drawing Foundations
Bargue plates - measuring, proportion, line quality, observational accuracy
Cast Drawing
Charcoal cast drawings - understanding form, value, and light through plaster casts
Introduction to Painting
Painted casts - transitioning from charcoal to oil paint
Still Life in Colour
Full colour still life painting - bringing together observation, value, and colour
I may include master copies as we progress. Each step builds methodically on the last.
Who This Is For
Studio Live suits artists who:
• Value independent practice over social interaction
• Want structure without pressure
• Are curious about classical methods
• Prefer to work at their own pace
• Can't access traditional atelier training
Beginners are welcome to observe and learn. Experienced artists can draw alongside. The format accommodates both.
About Me
I trained in classical methods in Florence and have worked as a professional commissioned artist since 2010. My work has received recognition and awards, but what matters more is the daily practice - the quiet discipline of observation and technique.
Studio Live is my commitment to documenting that practice systematically, from foundational principles through to advanced painting. It's the training I know, demonstrated methodically over years, made accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
